Each semester, twelve graduating seniors are selected as outstanding seniors to represent the College of Engineering. Of these twelve, one is chosen as the college’s student marshal at the undergraduate commencement ceremony on December 15. The Boeing Company made a $6 million commitment to Iowa State University that will enhance the educational experience for all students at Iowa State, inspire innovation on the university’s campus, and support engineering students interested in research. A significant portion of Boeing’s gift will support construction of the Student Innovation Center, the approximately 140,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art building that will serve as the hub on campus for hands-on projects where students can collaborate across a wide range of disciplines.
Allison Theisen, senior in Industrial Engineering, is diversifying her undergraduate degree program at Iowa State University with an entrepreneurial studies minor. As the director of social enrichment for her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, Theisen planned a lot of different events for about 300 people, and she found that the social and planning aspects of the job appealed to her.
