Xinchun Tian receives ISU Postdoctoral Research Excellence Award

Xinchun Tian, a postdoctoral scholar in the Materials Science and Engineering department, was awarded the ISU Postdoctoral Research Excellence Award for his research on in situ biasing TEM studies. College of Engineering faculty and staff have been named winners of 2020 college awards, honoring their outstanding accomplishments and contributions.

Madison Drent and Rachel Schmerbach receive Dean’s Leadership Award

The College of Engineering Dean’s Leadership Award recognizes outstanding undergraduate juniors and seniors who show exemplary leadership outside of a single department or organization. Madison Drent, junior in materials engineering, and Rachel Schmerbach, senior in aerospace engineering, are this year’s recipients.

Cyclone Engineer Tom Mansell receives prestigious NSF CAREER award

Tom Mansell, assistant professor of chemical and biological engineering, has received a National Science Foundation CAREER award to create engineered probiotics that may be a new way to treat illnesses like obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

2020 recipients of Guy and Giese Graduate Student Fellowship

Five students were awarded the annual Guy and Giese Graduate Student Fellowship. The Giese Graduate Fellowship was created in memory of Henry Giese, professor of structures and environment areas for Iowa State University’s Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department (ISU ABE). The Harold and Katherine Guy Graduate Fellowship was designed to promote research done in soil and water conservation. 

Chair of ABE receives ATMAE Faculty Excellence Award

Steve Mickelson is the 2019 recipient of the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) Faculty Excellence Award.
