Vilas Mujumdar, a recognized engineering leader and a generous donor to the College of Engineering, was awarded the Medal of Engineering Excellence by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO).
The College of Engineering Dean’s Leadership Award recognizes outstanding undergraduate juniors and seniors who show exemplary leadership outside of a single department or organization. Madison Drent, junior in materials engineering, and Rachel Schmerbach, senior in aerospace engineering, are this year’s recipients.

Five students were awarded the annual Guy and Giese Graduate Student Fellowship. The Giese Graduate Fellowship was created in memory of Henry Giese, professor of structures and environment areas for Iowa State University’s Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department (ISU ABE). The Harold and Katherine Guy Graduate Fellowship was designed to promote research done in soil and water conservation.
