Building for the Future

Thanks to a $42 million gift commitment from C.G. “Turk” and Joyce A. McEwen Therkildsen, the department will have a new facility that will serve as its home and provide technically enhanced research laboratory and learning spaces where industrial engineering students can gain the knowledge to design tomorrow’s innovative, nimble and intelligent processes needed now more than ever across all industrial sectors.

Emily Johnson: From Cyclone Engineering Ph.D. to Notre Dame faculty

Emily Johnson completed her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and wind energy science, engineering, and policy this summer. In memory of CBE alum, hall of fame member John G. McDonald

John G. McDonald, a 1957 B.S. graduate of Iowa State’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) and member of the department’s inaugural Hall of Fame class, passed away July 14 at the age of 86. ABE alumni and faculty win Davidson Prize for innovative grain-drying technology

Haber Technologies received the Davidson Prize at the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers during the Virtual Commodity Classic for their DRI-Stack grain-drying and aeration system. The DRI-Stack system dries and manages grains in grain bins using ambient air or heated air in a data-driven, innovative, section-by-section approach.
