Iowa State NECA is ready to compete in the Electrical Contracting Innovation Challenge

The Iowa State University National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Student Chapter is competing in the 16th Annual ELECTRI/NECA Student Chapter Competition in the Electrical Contracting Innovation Challenge (ECIC).

Combating Corrosion with 3D-Printed Biofilm

It is an industry-standard practice to rid structures of these microorganisms with chemicals to slow corrosion progression, often coming with high costs and risks to human and environmental health. However, what Associate Professor Kaoru Ikuma and her researchers found is that other microorganisms, or even the same ones, could actually inhibit corrosion.

Celebrating Women in CCEE: Sadie Brockett

Celebrating Women’s History Month this March, Iowa State University Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering is highlighting past, present and future women in engineering. Sadie Brockett is a senior in Construction Engineering and the President of the Associated General Contractors of America, Iowa State Chapter. Growing up around construction engineering influenced her initial interest, but her passion and skills have allowed her to flourish in the field and her education.

Celebrating Women in CCEE: Lauren Bockholt

Celebrating Women’s History Month this March, Iowa State University Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering is highlighting past, present and future women in engineering. Lauren Bockholt, a Senior Project Engineer at Ryan Companies, is an Iowa State Alumni graduating with her bachelor’s in construction engineering (ConE) in 2017 and her master’s in structural engineering in 2018. She has always been structurally minded and has been making architects’ visions a reality in the field in her career.
