Marine aviator, ISU alum Dwight DeJong is new flight simulator instructor in Aerospace Engineering

In the Marine Corps Dwight DeJong spent many hours training aviators in the fine points of flying military aircraft. In Iowa State’s Department of Aerospace Engineering he’ll be employing that experience teaching undergraduate students the basics of flying – without leaving Howe Hall.
DeJong has joined the department as director of the Flight Simulation Laboratory. He’ll be introducing students to techniques of flying fixed-wing aircraft with the use of six simulators.

Alumni are honored at CCEE awards banquet

With a plethora of engineering expertise and impact, alumni from Iowa State’s Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) are being recognized at the 2022 Civil and Environmental Engineering Awards Banquet this September. These alumni are renowned for their high professional achievements, service to the profession, community and/or the department and a high degree of character and integrity.

Iowa State College of Engineering selects first Kiewit Scholars Program cohort

AMES, Iowa – This spring, Iowa State University’s Kiewit Scholars Program selected 18 students for the inaugural cohort for the Kiewit Scholars Program at Iowa State. This first group of scholars includes nine incoming freshmen and nine currently enrolled Iowa State students.

CCEE’s Beena Ajmera receives mentoring and leadership award

Beena Ajmera, an assistant professor at Iowa State University’s Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE), was surprised and honored when she learned she had been selected to receive the Early-Career Undergraduate Research Mentoring Award from the Engineering Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research.

Meet the new ECpE faculty: Mohammad Tayeb Al Qaseer

Starting this fall, Mohammad Tayeb Al Qaseer, currently a research associate professor, will move into the appointment of a tenure-track associate professor for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE). Al Qaseer brings extensive experience and research to the department.
