New study finds bacterial enzymes could help prevent earthquake damage

A new study published in Canadian Geotechnical Journal suggests that an enzyme derived from bacteria could be used to enhance the stability of certain soils.

Iowa State University’s Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (ISU CCEE) has appointed Simon Laflamme the Waldo W. Wegner Professor in Civil Engineering. “This professorship enables innovative research projects that could yield exciting opportunities for our department,” Laflamme said. Centennial Celebration: A glimpse at civil engineering alumnus Neal Garver

Neal Garver stepped off the train with only a suitcase, prior experience as a school teacher, a certificate from a second-grade teacher in hand and a dream of becoming a civil engineer. Four years later he graduated with a degree in civil engineering and went on to create Garver, a multi-disciplined engineering, planning, architectural and environmental services firm in Little Rock, Arkansas. 

Winners announced for Eighth Annual ISU CCEE Graduate Student Research Showcase

Iowa State Associated General Contractors volunteer nearly 2,000 hours during university break

The Iowa State University chapter of Associated General Contractors (AGC) is fresh back from its semester service trip.
