APEX for Engineers starts new Cyclone Engineers off strong

This summer marked the 7th cohort of APEXE, or the Academic Program for EXcellence for Engineers. APEXE  gives incoming Iowa State engineering students the opportunity to experience the life of a Cyclone Engineer – and to increase the success rate of multicultural, first-year engineering students. APEXE is a component of the university-wide APEX program and is a collaboration between the College of Engineering and the Dean of Students Multicultural Student Affairs Office.

APEX engineering students kick off department visits in CBE

Nineteen incoming freshman engineering students got a taste of chemical engineering with the College of Engineering APEXE program. The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) was the first stop in a summer of department tours, industry visits, classroom activities and more for the recent high school graduates, many of whom and undeclared engineering majors. APEX E created for incoming engineering students

APEX, a longstanding summer bridge program for multicultural students, now features an offshoot program, called APEXE. Within APEX as a whole, 40-50 incoming Iowa State freshmen who apply for the program are annually chosen to participate in the eight week summer program that provides opportunities for course work, dorm-life, and social activities.
