Faculty positions announced for 2016-17

The state Board of Regents approved 58 faculty promotions and tenure applications for the 2016-17 year during its April 21 meeting in Council Bluffs. The full list of faculty can be found here. Engineers, elementary educators and future teachers partner to teach STEM

At Iowa State, integrating engineering into K-12 classrooms is a collaborative effort that spans across campus and into surrounding school districts. Trinect, a program funded by the National Science Foundation STEM-C Partnerships, brings together three groups to introduce engineering concepts to young students: engineering graduate students, preservice teacher students and cooperating elementary teachers from Des Moines Public Schools.

Two engineering alumni named 2016 STATEment Makers

Iowa ‘STATEment Makers’ is an honor that recognizes the early personal and professional accomplishments and contributions to society of Iowa State University’s young alumni (graduates 32 years of age and under). These ‘STATEment Makers’ make differences in their own lives, the lives of others, their communities, and/or their professions through ambitious efforts that reflect the scholarly, entrepreneurial, or service-oriented spirit of an Iowa State University education.

Engineering students named Wallace E. Barron Scholars

Angadbir Singh, a senior in mechanical engineering, and Kaitlyn Aldrich, a senior in civil engineering, will be named Wallace E. Barron Scholars’ for their remarkable achievements in academics and leadership. The Wallace E. Barron Award was established by the Iowa State University Alumni Association to recognize outstanding seniors who display high character, outstanding achievements in academics, and promise for continuing these qualities as alumni.

Iowa State professor wins ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) Construction Management Award

Douglas Gransberg, a professor of Iowa State’s Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, recently accepted the ASCE Construction Management Award. The award is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of construction management as a practitioner, educator or researcher.
