CCEE Hybrid School Bus Project featured on Iowa Public Radio

Hybrid vehicles, integrating battery-powered electric motors as helpers to traditional-fueled engines, are catching on with car drivers. But, applying the same technology to larger vehicles is taking more time. Two Iowa public schools are leading the way with experimental hybrid buses. Memorial patio built in honor of TJ Good

A memorial patio has been dedicated to Travis “TJ” Good, senior in civil engineering, who died suddenly last spring from bacterial meningitis. Open Lab Night showcases engineering department research

Laboratories were open in Coover Hall for Open Lab Night on November 10, allowing the public to see research being done in engineering departments on campus. The projects are exploring a range of technologies including high intensity ultrasound, microfluidic devices, robots emulating the behavior of small children, and remote-controlled helicopters. While on travel in California, I drove past a car dealership with signage advertising a solar powered station for recharging the batteries of electric cars. ECpE professor develops technology to help neuroscientists observe cells and understand diseases
