FundISU is a new way for Cyclone Engineering alumni and friends to support the innovative work and research being done at Iowa State University. Nearly four years ago the Iowa State University Foundation implemented FundISU – a crowdfunding platform helps Iowa State University community members raise money to support projects that advance innovation, teaching and learning at the university and promote Iowa State’s mission to create, share, and apply knowledge to make Iowa and the world a better place.

Iowa State’s Baja team wins first endurance race of the season, aims for more

Iowa State’s Baja SAE Team has already won a long race and earned a top-10 overall finish. The team’s racing season still has stops in California and New York. To get ready, the student-engineers have been collecting data and fine-tuning their off-road racer.

Cyclone Racing adds wings to formula racer, looks for quicker laps on track

Roger Steinforth has been through all the data from all the computer simulations. And he thinks adding wings to Cyclone Racing’s mini open-wheel racer could cut lap times by a second or two. That’s a big performance boost for the student-designed and student-built race cars of the formula racing series sponsored by SAE International, formerly the Society of Automotive Engineers.

ME alum wins SAE International/AEM Outstanding Young Engineer Award

Andrew McKean, a structural analyst  for the John Deere Construction & Forestry Division, Dubuque Works, was honored with the 2010 SAE International/AEM Outstanding Young Engineer Award during the SAE 2010 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress and Exhibition, held last fall in Rosemont, Ill.
