A two-year, $27 million interior gutting and rebuilding of Marston Hall has earned a Gold award in the LEED green building rating system. More than 25 percent of the LEED credits for Marston Hall reward energy efficiency. As designed, natural gas and electricity use is 38 percent lower than state code requirements. Additional achievements are in the acoustical quality of the classrooms and auditorium, and that 89 percent of the construction waste generated during the renovation was recycled, rather than sent to a landfill.
The College of Engineering is home to 52 postdocs, who make valuable contributions to Cyclone engineering research.
“Postdoctoral associates are key members of the College of Engineering’s research efforts,” said Arun Somani, associate dean for research. “Postdocs bring specialized experience and knowledge and offer creative, fresh ideas and approaches to their research groups and serve as role models.
