Iowa State NSBE members making national impact: Abdelwadood Daoud

Iowa State’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers allows students to contribute to the mission “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.” And Iowa State NSBE members are taking that mission to new levels. Abdelwadood Daoud, senior in mechanical engineering, is finance chair of NSBE’s Region V that includes 53 universities in the central United States.

Jocelyn Jackson, graduate student in mechanical engineering, is chair of NSBE’s Region V that includes 53 universities in the central United States.

Iowa State’s Engineers Without Borders constructs drinking water system in Ghana

Iowa State University’s Engineers Without Borders has returned to the village of Ullo, in northwest Ghana, to continue a project to extend the availability of drinking water from the four-month “wet season” to a year-round supply. “”To say that my life has been changed by this opportunity seems like such an understatement,” said Kelsey Brandt, a senior in chemical engineering, who also travelled to Ullo both in 2014 and 2016. “The second my feet hit that dusty ground, I felt at home.”

Engineers’ Week Guest Speaker Grant Imahara will discuss engineering entertainment 

Former MythBusters designer and current star of the Netflix series “The White Rabbit Project,” Grant Imahara, will visit Iowa State’s Memorial Union on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. as a guest lecturer for Engineers’ Week 2018. The event is free and open to the public. Three Cyclone Engineers featured in 2018 Women Impacting ISU calendar

The 2018 Women Impacting ISU calendar will include three women from the College of Engineering: LeQuetia Ancar, assistant director of engineering student services; Rachael Barnes, senior in biological systems engineering; Judy Vance, professor of mechanical engineering.
