Surge in engineering enrollment contributes to university records

In both undergraduate and graduate enrollment, the College of Engineering has surpassed last year’s numbers and moved to more than 6,500 total students. Those totals contributed to a record university enrollment of 28,682. Undergraduate enrollment in the college stands at 5,448, which is an increase of 418 students over 2009. Energy education program to emphasize learning for all ages

The earlier students can begin learning about energy, the better off society will be—that’s the philosophy of a group of Iowa State University engineering faculty working to develop sustainable educational programs in the area of energy and energy systems. Ted Heindel, interim chair of mechanical engineering, Tom Brumm, professor in-charge of online learning, and Ron Cox, associate dean of extension, received a $500,000 grant from the Iowa Office of Energy Independence that was matched by Iowa State to launch these programs by March 2012.

College of Engineering Career Fair venue relocated

With Hilton Coliseum closed until further notice, the College of Engineering’s Career Services has relocated the fall 2010 Engineering Career Fair to the grounds outside of the Scheman Building at the Iowa State Center.
