If “What I Did This Summer” essays were still a thing in school, the Department of Aerospace Engineering Spaceflight Operations Workshop™ would offer some great inspiration.

The application period for the two-week experience, set for August 2-14, 2022, is now open. As always, it will depart from the typical college classroom experience, to engage students in hands-on activities to learn planning, execution, and teamwork while transforming their thought processes to be more operationally centered.

It’s open to all Iowa State University engineering and education undergraduates, students from other institutions and to middle school, secondary and post-secondary educators.

See how the workshop can be a game-changer for you – personally and professionally.

The workshop is not designed to create future astronauts; it works to create a shift in one’s personal ability to think more operationally. It will present stressful conditions at times, with crewmembers experiencing long days filled with multiple activities.

Classroom activities cover subjects such as space law, space physiology and leadership team performance.

It is co-coordinated by fellow alum and faculty member Tomas Gonzalez-Torres, who is a former NASA Space Station flight director.
