Friedmann recieves Excellence Award from Engineers Without Borders

Michelle Friedmann is a graduate student at Iowa State University’s Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ISU ABE). Friedmann received the Excellence Award from Engineers Without Borders (EWB) USA at the group’s national conference on Nov. 9. The award recognizes individuals’ exceptional leadership skills and qualities within EWB.

Friedmann is being recognized for her efforts to solve world problems while cultivating her leadership skills. Friedmann is the vice president of programs for EWB-ISU. Her duties include scheduling, planning and conducting relationships. Friedmann coordinated a trip to Ullo, Ghana, in the winter of 2017. She led a team that was tasked with drilling a borehole within the community and conducting flow-rate tests to determine the borehole’s capacity to sustain a water distribution system.

Friedmann recently hosted an episode of Factor Analysis, ISU College of Engineering’s podcast. She sat down with Zack Saeed, the eldest son of the Chief of Ullo and the first representative from Ullo to travel to Iowa State University. Hear more in EP108: A Visit From Ullo.
