Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering University Professor Steve Vardeman was recognized by the provost’s office earlier this month for his “above and beyond” efforts as a faculty mentor.
Vardeman, who also has an appointment in Iowa State’s Department of Statistics, is a 2019 recipient the Exemplary Faculty Mentor Award. He was nominated for this honor by a “mentee” who cited the positive impact he has had on their life and career.
Iowa State’s formal mentoring program for new faculty began as a project of the Senior Vice President and Provost office in the late 1990’s; 2019 is the sixth year for the Exemplary Faculty Mentor Awards.
Of the nineteen 2019 award winners, Vardeman was lone recipient from Iowa State’s College of Engineering.
