Maxsam Donta, a graduating senior in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE), took top honors for research presentations in a recent College of Engineering symposium.

Donta’s project is titled “Transdifferentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Schwann Cell-like Phenotypes using Electrical Stimulation.” His faculty mentor is Dr. Surya Mallapragada.

Each semester the College of Engineering Honors Program evaluates posters from students in all college departments. This marks the third time in the last three years a CBE student has taken first place in the symposium. The honor went to Catherine Le Denmat in Spring 2017 and to Nicholas Gossling in Fall 2017. A full listing of past honorees is available here.

In addition to being part of the Honors program, Donta is graduating Magna Cum Laude May 11.
