AST alum announced in Kent Corporation personnel move

Bradley Petersen has joined the Commodity Procurement Team at Kent Corporation as a senior commodity manager. He has a bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University where he majored in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Systems Technology. Most recently, he worked as a commodity manager for Louis Dreyfus Commodities in Grand Junction, Iowa.

ISU review finds majority of technologies aimed at reducing odor and gas emissions from livestock production never see field-scale testing

A review of hundreds of academic articles on technologies to reduce odor and gas emissions from livestock operations shows that most such technologies undergo lab testing but never reach farm-scale study. A team of ISU researchers surveyed all the available publications on mitigation practices that focus on animal housing, manure storage and land application techniques.

Iowa State students, alumni chosen for National Science Foundation fellowships

Four students who have spent time in Iowa State’s engineering programs have been selected for the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program. The students are among 2,000 individuals receiving awards in 2016 out of 17,000 applicants. Iowa State University researchers receive $1 million grant to study antimicrobial resistance in animal production
