New class of Cyclone Engineers join Order of the Engineer

One hundred seventy-two graduating Cyclone Engineers took the oath of ethics initiating them into the Order of Engineer.

The Order of the Engineer event takes place at the conclusion of the final semester for graduating engineering students. This year the event took a different shape by being completed virtually, but the meaning of the ceremony remained the same.

Order of the Engineer promotes that being a professional engineer is more than just the technical skills and certifications. The tradition of Order of the Engineer celebrates completing the journey at Iowa State and joining the thousands of engineers dedicating themselves to engineering.

In a video message to the Order of the Engineer members, W. Samuel Easterling, James L. and Katherine S. Melsa Dean of Engineering said, “the ethical commitment you are making this evening means you will hold the public health, safety, and welfare above all other considerations.”
