Jenny Gibbs and Shannon Grundmeier, academic advisors in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, will be honored as exemplary peer mentor supervisors in a ceremony April 8.
The purpose of this award is to acknowledge learning community mentor supervisors for outstanding guidance and encouragement of peer mentors. The exemplary mentor supervisor award honors mentor supervisors (ISU faculty/staff) who have inspired leadership and enthusiasm among the peer mentors they supervise.
Gibbs and Grundmeier were nominated by Chemical Engineering seniors Grady Hugunin and Eli Reiser.
They will be honored, with other recipients of the award for the 2014-15 academic term, in a ceremony April 8 at 4:15 p.m. in 0022 Sukup Hall.
Gibbs joined the CBE staff in 2013 after obtaining a master’s degree in post-secondary education and student affairs at the University of Northern Iowa. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UNI.
Grundmeier began work with CBE in 2011 after working in the Iowa State University Financial Aid Office as a student peer mentor, graduate assistant and a financial aid advisor. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in management and psychology from Iowa State in 2007 and obtained an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from Iowa State in May 2009.
