Hui Hu, Martin C. Jischke Professor in Aerospace Engineering, has been named an Anson Marston Distinguished Professor, one of Iowa State’s highest honors for faculty members.
Hu is internationally renowned for fluid dynamics and heat transfer research that has improved aircraft anti- and de-icing technologies. His discoveries in advanced aerodynamics have also advanced wind turbine efficiency and strengthened wind-resilient building design. Hu’s innovative experimental work has been supported by more than 60 research grants from federal agencies and top aerospace companies.
For his significant engineering accomplishments, Hu has been elected an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Hu is also training and mentoring the next generation of aerospace engineering researchers and educators: As of 2024, 15 of his former graduate students are now engineering professors.
