Roy Sturgill joins CCEE as assistant professor

Roy Sturgill has joined Iowa State University’s College of Engineering as an assistant professor of civil, construction and environmental engineering.

Sturgill is an accomplished researcher and has served as principal investigator or co-investigator on more than a dozen research projects totaling over $1.5 million in both state and national funding.

He worked as a research engineer at the Kentucky Transportation Center at the University of Kentucky in their construction engineering and project management program for nearly seven years. He also has experience teaching civil engineering as an adjunct professor at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

Sturgill holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a master’s of business administration, and a doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky. He also holds a master’s in civil engineering from Virginia Tech with graduate certification in engineering education and preparing the future professoriate. He is a licensed professional engineer in Kentucky and is beginning the process for reciprocity in Iowa.
