ShieldX Networks (ShieldX) named Iowa State University a finalist in the 2018 SC Award for Best Cybersecurity Higher Education Program in the Professional Award category for its innovative use of the ShieldX APEIRO cloud security platform. The SC Awards are recognized as the industry gold standard of accomplishment for cybersecurity professionals, products and services.
Iowa State’s Information Assurance Center uses the ShieldX APEIRO cloud security platform to teach the next generation of cybersecurity professionals how to effectively identify and respond to suspicious activities within multi-cloud environments.
“Employers including Boeing, Microsoft, Lockheed-Martin, Google, Facebook, Amazon and virtually every federal agency expect quality hires from ISU because our students receive real-world security experience using innovative products like APEIRO,” said Doug Jacobson, director of the Iowa State University Information Assurance Center and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE) professor. “Being named a finalist by SC Media is a great honor and validates our decision to work with ShieldX. APEIRO is now an integral part of our cybersecurity training program and was the only solution that could meet all of our security, budget, footprint and scalability needs.”
Iowa State University was one of the first schools in the country to teach cybersecurity over 20 years ago. Iowa State’s Information Assurance Center is a pioneer in the area of competitive forums for teaching information assurance. Iowa State’s cyber defense competitions (ISEAGE) have received over $3.5 million in funding and the resources to simulate point-to-point and distributed attacks against test configurations.
“ShieldX is proud to be working with ISU to ensure new cybersecurity professionals are ready to make an immediate, positive impact upon entering the workforce,” said Ratinder Ahuja, Iowa State alum and founder and CEO of ShieldX. “We are very proud of Dr. Doug Jacobson and believe the work he is doing at Iowa State deserves the highest recognition possible.”
