Hui Ning Tan, a student in materials engineering, is an exchange student from the National University of Singapore. She is attending Iowa State University for the spring 2018 semester and will return to Singapore in May.
She said, “I came to Iowa State for a semester because I wanted to experience what my brother experienced. He was an exchange student here three years ago and really enjoyed it. I felt that Iowa State was a safe place to visit within the United States, and I look forward to understanding and learning the culture.”
During her semester at Iowa State, Tan is interested in traveling to other places in the United States such as Denver, Colorado. She is also interested in the comic book club on campus. Tan enjoys music and has played the Euphonium for seven years. She is an active musician in the band at the National University of Singapore. She also enjoys taking aerobics classes.
As a materials engineering student, Tan is still exploring her future plans for after graduation. She would enjoy working in the industry after earning her degree.
