Described in the March 15, 2017, article “Award-winning engineer’s career inspired by 4-H project,” Rachel Pichelmann (BSCE2009) recalls one test in particular in high school.
“I remember taking some sort of career aptitude test and it showed that I should pursue some sort of science or technology career,” Pichelmann said. “I still remember thinking, ‘Oh, whatever … women don’t do that.’”
The Iowa State University civil engineering alumna was recently recognized as the Minnesota Federation of Engineering, Science, and Technology Societies (MFESTS) Young Engineer of the Year. She also received the Society of American Military Engineers’ Young Engineer Award last month.
