From July 13 to July 16, the hallways in Elings Hall and Sukup Hall were a little vacant. This was due to many in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering attending the 2014 ASABE (American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers) annual international meeting in Montreal. Faculty, staff and students were in attendance, and several were recognized for their outstanding and exemplary contributions to their field. Congratulations to the recipients of the following awards:
- Mark Hanna – 2014 ASABE Fellow
- Michelle Soupir – New Holland Young Researcher Award
- Steven Hoff – Henry Giese Structures and Environment Award
- Matt Helmers – G.B. Gunlogson Countryside Engineering Award
- Midwest Plan Service – Blue Ribbon Award ‘Publications, Comprehensive’ for “Dairy Freestall Housing and Equipment”
- Daniel Andersen – Outstanding Reviewer Recognition ‘Soil and Water Division’
- Allen Myers (President of Ag Leader and supporter of the department) – Cyrus Hall McCormick Jerome Case Gold Medal Award
The Iowa State University student branch of ASABE was also well represented at the conference with a total of 11 students attending. In addition to presenting posters and content at technical sessions, the following students and teams were recognized:
