Dr. Raj Raman was named Outstanding Advisor at the 13th annual Engineering Student Leadership Banquet held April 23. He was nominated by Kate Klavon, junior in agricultural engineering. Below is Klavon’s nomination statement. Congrats to Dr. Raman!

As advisor to the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) ISU chapter, Dr. Raj Raman is constantly working to make sure members are getting the most out of their experience here at Iowa State. He encourages club members to participate in as many professional networking opportunities as possible and serves as an excellent liaison between the club and the department by communicating concerns to the ABE curriculum committee. He is a strong believer that engineers should constantly be giving back to their community and has taught club members to make community service a top priority in their lives. Because of this, ASABE received an award from Governor Branstad this summer for outstanding commitment to community service. He has taught the club to put 150 percent effort into everything. He also encourages students in the department to participate in ASABE and become involved with the leadership opportunities the club has to offer.
