Iowa State pair wins Pappajohn New Venture Business Plan Competition

The Pappajohn New Venture Business Plan Competition has given students throughout Iowa the opportunity to work with Iowa entrepreneurs to develop business plans and to compete for three $5,000 prizes. This year three of the six students named regional winners were College of Engineering students and another a CoE alumnus. The regional winners include:  Luke Schlangen and Ashish Joshi, industrial and manufacturing systems engineering graduate students; William Lohry, senior in chemical engineering; and Sam Robinson, CoE alumnus.

The final winners of the competition were Lohry and Robinson with their company, Structuralize, which provides a facial motion capture service to the video game and film industries. Facial motion capture allows the expressions and movements of an actor’s face to be used to animate digital characters. Lohry and Robinson plan to use the prize money to start their business here in Iowa.
