Eirini Kastrouni selected for IRF Road Scholar Program

Eirini Kastrouni, a second-year graduate student in civil, construction, and environmental engineering, has been selected to participate as an Executive Fellow in the January 2012 International Road Federation (IRF) Road Scholar Program in Washington, D.C. The 10-day program will overlap and be held in conjunction with the Transportation Research Board annual meeting.

This is the second year in a row that a student nominated by the Institute for Transportation has been selected to participate as an Executive Fellow in the competitive and prestigious IRF Road Scholar Program. Last year graduate assistant Gilson Lomboy was selected.

Kastrouni, who anticipates graduating in May 2012, is an active member of the Transportation Student Association, serving as the vice president for 2011–12. Her academic adviser is Nadia Gkritza, assistant professor of civil, construction, and environmental engineering and director of Iowa State’s Interdisciplinary Transportation Graduate Program.
