Dr. Joe Schaefer, Senior Lecturer and formerly Professor and Chair of Physics at Loras College, receives the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award for “Service Provided to the College as a Faculty Member” from Loras College.

Dr. Joe Schaefer, Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering and formerly Professor and Chair of Physics at Loras College, will receive the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award for “Service Provided to the College as a Faculty Member” from Loras College.

The Loras College National Alumni Board and the Alumni Relations Office of Loras College selected the recipients for awards recognizing distinguished service in several categories.  Similar alumni recognition was given for “Professional Achievements and Contributions Made to Loras College,” and for “Christian Service and Volunteer Work,” and for “Contributions made in Public Service.”

Dr. Schaefer received his B.S. degree in 1962 at Loras College, where he taught Physics and Engineering Science for 35 years.  This award will be presented at the Homecoming dinner at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, on October 4, 2008.  A plaque commemorates Joe for his award and is mounted on the wall in the Alumni Campus Center on the Loras College campus.
