The Faculty-Staff Portfolio System (FSPS) has been discontinued as part of the College of Engineering’s strategy to reduce administrative costs.
FSPS, a web-based application, was intended as a comprehensive knowledgebase of engineering scholarship in the college. Shutting down the application will save money in license fees, reduce the administrative demands on computer support staff, and open up valuable server space.
Shutting down the system is another example of focusing budget reductions on central administration while preserving the budgets of academic departments. Jonathan Wickert, dean of the college, formally outlined that approach in a recent budget memo and in e-mails to faculty and staff, and to students.
A discussion of departmental budgets for FY11 is on the agenda of the faculty and staff meeting scheduled for Friday, March 26, from 3:45 to 5 p.m. in Alliant Energy—Lee Liu Auditorium, Howe Hall.
