Sri Sritharan, the Wilson Engineering Professor of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, was a panelist for a Science Center of Iowa Cafe Scientifique discussing the recent crisis in Japan. He focused his presentation on earthquake building design.
The panel included Iowa scientists and emergency response specialists and covered the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disasters. The presentations also provided insights into how Iowa can help those in need and make changes in disaster planning and design. The panel discussion took place on March 29, 2011 at the Science Center of Iowa, in Des Moines, and was recorded and aired on Iowa Public Television on March 31, 2011.
