Pilot Chemical Company announced today that Michael Scott has been named president. Pam Butcher, current president and CEO, will remain as CEO while Scott becomes fully established in his new role. Following this defined transition period, Butcher will move to a position on Pilot Chemical’s board of directors.
Scott most recently served as the regional president for acrylics and the general manager for organic peroxides at Arkema, Inc. in Houston, Texas, where he was instrumental in the acquisition of Dow Chemical’s acrylic monomer business.
The announcement followed an extensive nationwide search conducted by Pilot’s senior leadership and board members. “The board and I are excited to welcome Mike to the Pilot team,” said Paul Morrisroe, chairman of Pilot Chemical’s board of directors. “We are confident that his extensive experience in manufacturing and strategic planning will further accelerate Pilot’s growth and success in the future.”
During his tenure at Arkema, Scott held positions in manufacturing, commercial development, marketing and strategic planning. He also completed a multi-year assignment in France. Scott began his career with M&T Chemicals, Inc. and holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University.
“It’s truly an honor to join such an outstanding company,” Scott said. “Pilot has built its reputation on innovation, quality products and services and safety. I look forward to contributing to its future success and growth.”
Scott will lead corporate operations from Pilot Chemical’s headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, and will oversee six locations and approximately 250 employees.
