On Friday, May 16, the Department of Production Engineering at Warsaw University in Poland welcomed a group of students from Iowa State University (USA).
The meeting was organized by Dr. Piotr Borowski, who escorted guests around the Department, showed classrooms and laboratory extrusion consisting of, among others, single screw extruders with two instrumentation, enabling research thermomechanical treatment of various raw materials of vegetable origin.
Dr. Jaroslaw Chlebowski gave a demonstration using a milking system VMS milking robot, and showcased laboratory cultivation tools. Afterwards, Dr. Robert Salat escorted guests to the PLC lab and automation lab.
At the end of the tour, all the guests met with Professor Adam Kupczykiem, who together with Dr. Peter Borowski spoke about the various focus areas in the Department of Organization and Production Engineering at Warsaw University.

Dr. Jacek Koziel of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) at Iowa State University is currently leading a group of seven ISU students on a three week study abroad trip to Poland (TSM 496). Other College of Agriculture and Life Sciences majors are from Agricultural Studies, Ag Business, and Animal Science.
The group visited a department similar in research and teaching scope to ABE (Department of Production Engineering) at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW). They also visited the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the same university, and toured a state-of-the-art water quality laboratory. They will are visit two additional universities in Poland and are working on joint projects with local students.
A small delegation from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Engineering will visit the Warsaw University of Life Sciences again in mid July.
