Iowa State ASC Region 4 teams bring home hardware from competition

Four teams from Iowa State’s Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (ISU CCEE) competing in the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 4 Competition were honored with a number of awards this past weekend. During the weekend of October 24-27, the North Central Region of the ASC met at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, Nebraska, for its annual conference and competition.

Ten of the 16 universities in the seven-state region were represented. In attendance were 30 university faculty and 30 student competition teams totaling 180 students.

Events included the ASC Region 4 midyear meeting, leadership breakfast, and the 26th Annual Construction Management Student Competition.

Competition winners from Iowa State were competing in the commercial new construction division, design-build division, heavy highway division and the specialty division. Those teams placed first, second, third and second, respectively.

Larry Cormicle, a senior lecturer in construction engineering, advises the team. ISU CCEE students have earned a total of 48 first-place finishes since the first student competition in 1994.
