U.S. News rankings: Engineering ties for 21st among public universities; ABE ranks 2nd nationally

Undergraduate students work in ABE 110 – Diesel Engine Lab. Iowa State’s agricultural and biological systems program is ranked 2nd.

U.S. News & World Report recently released the 2016 “America’s Best Colleges” rankings, and Iowa State’s College of Engineering ties for 21st among public universities’ engineering schools whose highest degree is a doctorate. Among all national universities, Iowa State’s engineering program ranks 36th (a five-way tie with the University of Colorado – Boulder; University of Florida, Gainesville; Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee; and Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. Last year, Iowa State was tied for 23rd among public programs and in a seven-way tie for 41st overall.

In biological/agricultural engineering, Iowa State is the No. 2 ranked program among all national universities, and 2nd among public universities. The program is in three-way tie with Texas A&M University – College Station and the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign.
