Larry Cormicle, Iowa State construction engineering senior lecturer and Glenn H. DeStigter Scholar, was given the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Outstanding Educator Award, an international honor.
The award recognizes Cormicle’s contribution to construction education, excellence in teaching, service to the ASC and dedication to the construction profession. Letters of recommendation from the department head and colleagues led to his nomination.
“Larry is innovative, rigorous and motivational as a teacher, efficient and detailed in his efforts to serve academia, passionate as a recruiter of construction education students, and unmatched in his effectiveness mentoring leaders of student organizations,” says construction engineering Professor Chuck Jahren.
The award is given annually to a faculty member of a four-year ASC member school and was presented to Cormicle at the 48th Annual ASC International Conference, held at the Birmingham School of the Build Environment at Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom.
