Being the William March Scholar in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University is much more than just a prestigious title.
Nicole Hashemi was named the latest March Scholar this past fall, and she has hit the ground running with the funding that the award provides her.
“Thanks to this funding, I am able to study some of the most exciting research and ideas that I have been wanting to pursue,” said Hashemi, assistant professor of mechanical engineering. One of the first things Hashemi did with the March funding was establish a laboratory and hire motivated graduate students to join her team.
“In research, I am hoping to expand our expertise in the areas of portable biosensors, specifically for monitoring the environment on a larger scale and point-of-care application,” she said.
