Offering a ‘puzzle box’ image to doctors

Humpty Dumpty might’ve stood a chance had University of Iowa doctors Don Anderson and Larry Marsh and their colleagues been around to help.

Anderson and Marsh are two of the founding partners of a new medical business venture that could one day provide a digital blueprint for surgeons piecing badly fractured joints such as ankles, knees and hips back together.

A team of five medical researchers from UI and Iowa State University along with a recent UI business graduate student formed FxRedux Solutions — short for fracture reduction — in June. In recent months, they’ve won the top prize at two entrepreneurial competitions hosted by UI, and earlier this month, the business finished in the top seven of the John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition in Ames.
