The following faculty members have joined the Mechanical Engineering Department:
Associate Professor, with tenure
Daniel Attinger – Daniel comes to us from Columbia University where he is studying multiphase microfluidics. He is addressing problems in self-assembly during evaporation and blood spatter analysis, to name a few. He will officially start in August.
Assistant Professor, tenure-track
Nicole Hashemi – Nicole is currently an ASEE Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Navy Research Laboratory. She completed her PhD from Virginia Tech. Her research is in the area of bio-M/NEMS and sensing biological components using fluid mechanics for cell separation. Nastaran will also hold the title of the William March Scholar in Mechanical Engineering. She will officially start in August.
Assistant Professor, tenure-track
Reza Montazami – Reza recently completed his PhD from Virginia Tech. His research is in the area of soft material electromechanical actuation with applications in nature-inspired microrobotics and soft robotics. He will officially start in August.
Lecturer
David Asjes – David is finishing his PhD in mechanical engineering and will be responsible for ME 421 – Dynamic Systems and Controls this coming year. David was an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Naval Science at ISU and the Executive Officer of the ISU Naval ROTC unit. He is a recently retired Navy pilot. David’s appointment will start in August.
