An accident at the intersection of Mortensen Road and Welch Avenue on the afternoon of April 1, 2011, left a motorcyclist dead. The motorcyclist was identified as Dillin Nickson, 29, of Lake Mills according to Ames police reports. Nickson was a sophomore in aerospace engineering and was in the Iowa National Guard.
