Associate Professor of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Shauna Hallmark’s research was mentioned as lawmakers debated a ban on speed and red-light traffic cameras. Working with the Institute for Transportation, Hallmark’s study “Evaluating the effectiveness of red light running camera enforcement in Cedar Rapids and developing guidelines for selection and use of red light running countermeasures,” will be complete in June 2011. Those speaking out against the ban suggested waiting until the study was complete before proceeding on any changes.
