Her unwavering passion for her field has earned her the title of distinguished professor, the first woman to ever receive this honor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering.

CBE’s AIChE chapter picks up two awards at regional conference

An individual honor and a team honor were earned by the Iowa State student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in the group’s recent trip to the Mid-America Student Regional Conference hosted at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Cyclone engineering seniors receive first place in pitch off competition for automated medicinal sprayer product

The sixth annual Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship college-by-college pitch off was just completed this month – with Belling and Meyer placing first in the “New Idea” category, receiving a $5,000 award. The students participating in the pitch-off have to go through several rounds for the potential to win, and pitch their idea in 90 seconds to panels of judges.

Four Aerospace Engineering graduate students receive award for teaching, research

For the Fall 2022 semester, four graduate students in the Department of Aerospace Engineering have been honored with Teaching Excellence (TEX) and Research Excellence (REX) Awards from Iowa State University’s graduate college. The awards are presented to graduate students who demonstrate excellence in their scientific research or their teaching performance.

Aerospace Engineering’s Ping He receives Mack 2050 Challenge honor

Department of Aerospace Engineering assistant professor Ping He has been named a Michael and Denise Mack 2050 Challenge Scholar. The program was established to support the Iowa State University College of Engineering’s 2050 vision. It supports one junior faculty member with fellowship funding.

Thivani Senathiraja’s passion for taking on problems is leading to grand successes

Senathiraja is working with Chris Cornelius, the Dr. Thomas D. McGee and Dr. Ick-Jhin Rick Yoon Department Chair in Materials Science and Engineering/Wilkinson Chair in Materials Science and Engineering and Professor of Chemical Engineering, by courtesy, to promote green energy by optimizing and increasing the performance and durability of hydrogen fuel cell membranes. Her research and leadership have resulted in her receiving several awards, including the local Guiding Start Award from the Graduate Society of Women Engineers.
