What’s your favorite place on campus?

What’s your favorite memory of your time at Iowa State?

Rushing the field with my friends after the Cyclones beat TCU in 2017

Who was your most influential mentor while at Iowa State?

Raj Raman, Morrill Professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering. He was the professor for ABE 160 my freshman year and hired me as an undergraduate research assistant and TA for about two years. It was great to have someone so invested in helping me grow as an engineer from early on in my time at Iowa State. Dr. Raman helped me figure out what I’m passionate about and interested in for my career.

Which of your hands-on learning opportunities was most valuable and why?

My co-op was the most valuable hands-on learning opportunity. I was able to spend eight months in a full-time engineering role and then continue to work part-time for another six months. The company I worked for had a smaller engineering team at the plant, so I was able to take on a lot of responsibility and own my projects.

What are your plans for after graduation?

I’ll be with Land O’Lakes, Inc. in their 2-year Talent Acceleration Program

What’s the mark you’re looking to leave on the world as an engineer?

I’m passionate about sustainability and food access. Ideally, I’d like to work in international development or spend a lot of time volunteering in my community.

What’s unique and awesome about being an Iowa State engineer and the ISU engineering experience?

At Iowa State and especially in the ABE department, you can tell that everyone really cares about student success both in the classroom and in our future careers. The department is highly ranked plus it’s small, so you get to know a lot of people in your classes. There are so many different opportunities to learn about from industry to research and it’s easy to get involved.
