ABE 4150 and 4160 in the fall and adding ABE 2180 to those in the spring.

Education:

I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering, both from Iowa State.  My master’s work was sponsored by Deere.

Field experience:

33 years of experience in agricultural new product development, project management, and marketing. After starting as a design engineer, I worked my way into roles of increasing responsibility as a senior engineer, program manager, and project engineer, then retiring as a supervisor of product engineering.

Recognitions or awards:

10 Patents or Co-patents, 2020 Ag Division Presidents Award of Excellence, 2008 Ag Division Engineering Collaboration Award, 2007 Ag Division Engineering Innovation Award.

What kind of classroom and teaching experience do you look forward to creating at Iowa State?

I look forward to coaching the innovation mindset, building multifunctional teams, and supporting the groundwork for managing the manufacturing and project process. Coming directly from three decades in the industry, I’m teaching about the importance of return on investment (ROI) and working with actual project scopes and schedules in these courses.

What drew you to join the ABE team at ISU?

I grew up in the area, then I went to Iowa State, and I worked for John Deere, a longtime partner of ABE. I have always wanted to do something like this, to give back to ISU and to students. To go from the best Ag equipment innovation space to the best ag engineering department, the opportunity aligned perfectly.
