The application period for the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering’s (CBE) 2023 BioMaP REU program is now open.
With funding from the National Science Foundation, the Biological Materials and Processes Research Experience for Undergraduates (BioMaP REU) will provide mentored research experiences with 15 research projects offered. The program will be held from May 30 – August 4 and will again host undergraduate students from around the nation who are pursuing bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering or a related curriculum.
Each student is paired with a CBE faculty mentor to conduct work on the research program they selected in the application process. Department graduate students also assist with the mentoring of the program participants.
Research presentations from faculty, industry panelists and more contribute to the professional development offerings of the program. At the conclusion of the program, each student will present a research poster summarizing their summer work at a university-wide research symposium.
Participants receive a weekly stipend while at Iowa State, along with travel, food and housing allowances.
More information about the program and a link to the application form can be found on the BioMaP REU page of the CBE web site.
The application deadline is February 15, 2023.
