Two educational institutions will work together to help Dubuque-area advanced manufacturing companies. Northeast Iowa Community College and Iowa State University Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) recently partnered to provide a single point of contact for manufacturers to help them find programs and support services to reach their long-term goals.
Chris McCoy will be the next chief information officer at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the university announced Tuesday. McCoy holds a similar position at Metropolitan State University in Minnesota. He begins July 20 as UA’s associate vice chancellor of Information Technology Services and chief information officer. He replaces Dennis Brewer, who began serving as UA’s chief information officer in 2012.
The Student Innovation Center, a proposed new ISU facility born from a collaboration between the College of Design and the College of Engineering, is currently awaiting approval from Gov. Terry Branstad with the rest of Iowa’s state budget.
Kathy Weaver and Devna Popejoy-Sheriff, both academic advisors for industrial and manufacturing systems engineering, were named Exemplary Peer Mentor Supervisors for the 2014-2015 academic year by ISU Learning Communities. The technology company Sparton is welcoming an ISU alumnus as its new vice president. Joseph T. Schneider, a 1990 industrial engineering graduate, started his position as senior vice president of sales and marketing on May 26, 2015. Schneider has over 25 years of business experience and most recently served as vice president/general manager of a business unit within Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Division.
