The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) presented the 2020 Sukup Global Food Security award during their virtual meeting this year, July 13-15, to Dirk Maier, a professor in the Iowa State University Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. The award recognizes distinguished contributions to global food security through research, outreach and teaching.

Zhongming Fan (’19 Ph.D. mat sci engr) earned an honorable mention for the Zaffarano Prize. The Zaffarano Prize is awarded annually to graduate students showing exceptional performance in publishing research in academic journals. Selection is based on both the quality and quantity of their publications.

The Fluids Engineering Division [of ASME] selects several students representing a different technical committee and awards them the ASME FED Graduate Student Scholar (GSS) Award.
