EPLI comes to a close

The College of Engineering is announcing the closure of the Engineering Policy and Leadership Institute (EPLI) and two of its components, the Engineering Thematic Year Program and the Faculty Fellowship Program.

The institute was formed in 2006. Professor Ed Jaselskis served as its director, with executive and administrative support provided by Katy Rice. EPLI’s achievements included a series of informative lectures and panels on the policy dimensions of energy, security, sustainability, and transportation technologies.

“I am grateful for the role that the institute has played in raising awareness about engineering and public policy, and for Ed’s and Katy’s service to the institute and college,” said Jonathan Wickert, dean of the college.

Jaselskis, the W. A. Klinger Teaching Professor in Civil Engineering, has returned full time to the CCEE department and leadership of the construction engineering program, and Rice has taken a new appointment as outreach manager in the CCEE department.

In a related change, the Engineering Leadership Program for undergraduate students now reports up through the college’s academic and student affairs business unit.
