The College of Engineering’s staff mentoring program, Improve You, is kicking off its 12th year with a new focus on learning partnerships.
While the program previously defined a mentor and a mentee in each pairing, the new approach highlights the unique skills and knowledge that each staff member brings.
“College leadership encourages employee participation in this valuable program,” says W. Samuel Easterling, the James L. and Katherine S. Melsa Dean of Engineering. “Our Cyclone Engineering team is stronger when we work together and learn from each other. This program provides an excellent opportunity to do that.”
“In its 11 years, the program has helped build professional skills and networks of 186 participants,” says co-chair Cindy Frame. “We look forward to building on that foundation and continuing to grow.”
What to know
- All P&S and Merit staff in the College of Engineering, as well as partners who support engineering programs, are eligible to participate.
- Members will form dyads based on the information they submit on their profile form. Dyads will formulate goals together and then meet throughout the academic year to work toward them.
- There are also large-group programs and networking socials throughout the year (it is OK if participants cannot make every session).
- Submit a profile to help with the dyad matching process.
